Richard Picton a self taught artist was born in Aberdare in the South Wales Valleys in 1963. His main subject of interest is railway engines, particularly steam locomotives. He is a very talented landscape painter which allows him to ensure that his settings are complimentary to the main subject. Steam engines are a living thing which Richard brings to life. The painting of Pen y Fan adjacent is an excellent example of his landscape technique. Beautifully executed and a well constructed composition. I have often walked this area and seen many paintings of the Brecon Becons but this unusual view does it more than justice. More of Richard's fine work can be seen on the following websites:
