Wales Artists Feature

Richard Picton

Richard Picton a self taught artist was born in Aberdare in the South Wales Valleys in 1963.

His main subject of interest is railway engines, particularly steam locomotives. He is a very talented landscape painter which allows him to ensure that his settings are complimentary to the main subject. Steam engines are a living thing which Richard brings to life.

The painting of Pen y Fan adjacent  is an excellent example of his landscape technique. Beautifully executed and a well constructed composition. I have often walked this area and seen many paintings of the Brecon Becons but this unusual view does it more than justice.
